The Finishes and Interiors Sector (FIS) was created to draw the finishes and interiors supply chain together to improve safety and quality, minimise risk, enhance productivity and help embrace innovation.

The FIS Innovation Awards showcase outstanding innovation in the finishes and interiors sector across four different categories: Product Fit-Out, Product FF&E, Digital and Sustainability.

It’s taken a couple of days for it to really sink in, not only did we win ‘Best in Category’, but also overall ’Digital Innovation of the Year 2023’… a fantastic team achievement!

To be given this recognition from the sector for all our hard work over the last few years in bringing our Software and App to market not only makes us feel very proud, but also supports our whole ethos and why we exist: “Empowering duty-holders to improve competencies, raise safety standards and achieve compliance, by delivering and accessing ‘real-time’ information at the point of need”. Which can ultimately help to save lives.

Firstly we’d like to thank our team for all their hard work, dedication and passion. From our diligent back office staff, our incredible software developers and thought leadership team through to those of us at the coal-face getting the product out there. An incredible team effort, which we can all be very proud of and be confident in that what we are doing will help to drive cultural change in the sector. And also a massive thank you to our FireDNA Network Alliance Partners that helped us with our ‘in-field’ beta testing in the early days.

We’d also like to thank the judging panel of the digital category for seeing the potential and confirming the importance of what we are doing; Chris Grant, Projects & Partnerships Manager, Digital Construction Skills; Mark Norton, Digital Construction Director, ISG; Dr Stephen Hamil, Innovation Director, NBS and Iain McIlwee, Chief Executive, FIS.

“The judges said that this product has a huge potential to help support information management through the entire supply chain for fire critical products such as fire doors. With ‘golden thread’ at the forefront of current thinking, it is exciting to be presented with something that has sought to understand the journey of the product, and the needs of people at each stage, as it leaves the manufacturer right through to when it is inspected in a live building”.

Huge thanks also to everyone that took part in the ‘live voting’ at the awards ceremony on Monday evening. You awarded us the overall ‘Innovation of the Year Award 2023’!

As we’ve previously mentioned we were up-against some tough competition, with some really exciting and ‘industry changing’ products, the likes of eekowall, Rockfon Lamella and Adaptavates ‘Breathaboard’. But, as the judges concluded the ‘golden thread’ is the hot topic at the moment, and that’s what we deliver.
